Scrawl from The Saw’s Butcher Shop: Cannibal Corpse 2022 Tour @ The Ramkat, Winston-Salem SHOW REVIEW

What’s going on, Butcher Crew?! It’s your Master Butcher, The Saw, and I started my 2022 off right last weekend with this show! You know how much I love Cannibal Corpse AND Whitechapel, so you already know I bought my tickets ASAP! It’s a good thing I did — the show was sold out!

This was my second time going to the Ramkat. The first time I went, I saw Whitechapel during the Chaos and Carnage tour. That was probably 3 years ago! The Ramkat is a great venue; they have seating tickets and general admission. I got the GA tickets because I wanted to be by the pit! The sound was great that night, and although we were crammed in the venue like a herd of cattle, the show was spectacular!

Unfortunately, I was unable to see the first two bands — Shadow of Intent and Revocation. Because the show was sold out, the line to get into the venue was long! The line wrapped around the venue, so it would be a while until I finally got in.

But you best believe I was there in time to see Whitechapel! Like always, they put on a killer show. They really got the crowd pumped for Cannibal Corpse. Their stage show was awesome; the guitarists, bassist, and vocalist were in the faces of the crowd the entire time. The sound was so good, and I thought I was listening to a record! Phil’s strong gutturals and growls came out crystal clear. He even did some clean singing during Lost Boy. I swear he sounds like Corey Taylor from Slipknot when he sings.

They played some songs off their new record, Kin, such as Lost Boy, The Ones That Made Us, and Bloodsoaked Symphony. They even played some older stuff like This Is Exile, Our Endless War, and of course, The Saw Is The Law. The entire crowd was chanting, “Saw is the law,” and I was so honored that they were cheering for your Master Butcher! I AM the law!!

The pit began to get rowdy when Whitechapel took the stage. We had a classic pushpit going on! I was pushing and shoving people, and I managed not to fall.

Then, it was time for the big guns to come out… Cannibal Corpse.

Cannibal Corpse always puts on a great show. Corpsegrinder’s voice is so recognizable, and I could hear what he was saying. He’s so great at pronouncing and enunciating words! He did his classic windmill several times, and I really don’t know how his neck doesn’t hurt doing this every night — I guess we know why his neck is so big! He joked along with the crowd and talked crap to us from time to time. The rest of the band is like your typical death metal band. They stood there with their hair in their face and headbanged the entire time — love it!!

They played some songs off their new record, Violence Unimagined, such as Inhumane Harvest and Ritual Annihilation (my favorite). But of course, they had to play the classics such as Kill or Become, Hammer Smashed Face, I Cum Blood, Evisceration Plague, Scourge of Iron, and Fucked With A Knife (he dedicated this song to the ladies).

Overall, this show was fantastic! I am so happy I started my 2022 show journey with my two favorite bands! It was a great time with some great friends. I can’t wait to see Cannibal Corpse and Whitechapel again in the future!

Stay Metal,
