Welcome to The Saw’s Butcher Shop! Ya Girl – The Saw – is excited that, on April 28, 2023, Cradle of Filth released their first live album in twenty years. Trouble and Their Double Lives (Napalm Records) is a “Best Of” in its own way for the band; filled with fan favorites, and two new tracks. The live recordings have an excellent mix and production, and the performance captured of Cradle of Filth is awesome!
The live performances for Trouble and Their Double Lives were captured between 2014 and 2019 during the “Cryptoriana World Tour” in the USA, Europe, Australia, and beyond. The band says that, “the album serves as a time-capsule of blisteringly intense live energy, and an astounding testament to Cradle of Filth’s renowned latest era.”
There are two brand-new studio singles featured on this album, too. We’ve talked about the awesome track, “She is a fire,” already. The other new studio song is “Demon Prince Regent,” a wicked banger full of quick tempo riffs, symphonics, and Dani Filth’s terrifying vocal deliveries. Ya Girl loved 2021s Existence is Futile (Nuclear Blast), and the two new studio tracks on the new album pick right up where it left off.
If you’re a long-time Cradle of Filth fan, then you’ll love the fan favorites captured on Trouble and Their Double Lives. If you’re new to the band, this new album gives you a taste of the wonderful horrors expressed throughout Cradle of Filth’s 13-album discography. I love how good it sounds! And Lindsay Schoolcraft’s (synthesizer, keyboards) pure, clean, and innocent sounding vocals are a great contrast to Dani’s monstrous delivery and ear-piercing screeches. Cradle of Filth are masters of the modern era sound of Symphonic, Melodic Black Metal, and this live record catches all the nuances and (honestly) genius of the band.
